Jackson Pollock. He has 6 pieces at the Tate modern.

Sounds like Jackson Pollock.
Pollock, along with Rothko and DeKonnig were post-war jewish american abstract expressionists whose stuff was bought by the CIA to make a market and raise their profiles to celebrities. This enabled the americans to contrast the celebration of these offbeat jews with the incarceration in the gulags of soviet offbeat jews, especially after that nazi business.
Jackson Pollock painted by dripping and splashing. I'm not sure if he had work at those places, though.
yea its jackson pollack
Jackson Pollack - long dead and very poor in his own time but his work is now going for enormous sums

Usually, he laid the canvas or board down to sort of lay the paint on or throw it down or sprinkle it.
This is clearly Jackson Pollock. An American painting in 50s and 60s. The technique is called 'tachism' or 'action painting'.
I have only seen that style one time in my life and it was my highschool art teacher. he would make a mixture of oil paint and candle wax and do some beautiful abstract stuff. His name was Cecil North. I am sure he is painting with God these days as he was an older gentleman then and I am an older person now.

Peace

One artist I know that did this in the 70's is Sam Francis
